What A Birthday Week!

Monday started with Evan’s birthday celebration in school:
Tuesday started with Evan opening 2 gifts:
Having Japanese for his birthday lunch (he requested tofu and soup).

Ended his special day being promoted to a yellow belt in karate.

Wednesday was his birthday party. By this time he is thinking his birthday is 3 days long. The piñata was a hit and so was everything else (dragon cake, knight helmets, swords, princess tiaras, wands, goody bags, pretzel dogs, fruit kebobs, meatball spaghetti).

Everybody but one showed up even if the day started out to be stormy. All the stress was worth it to see Evan so happy being with his favorite friends and all kids having a blast.

Thursday was the parent-teacher conference and mommy came home happy and proud at Evan’s tests scores especially in reading – especially since I was the one who taught him to read, what a very rewarding feeling =)

Tom was ecstatic when he saw the report too. I guess this was Evan’s gift to us.Friday was Evan’s last day in school and they had a picnic. Of course, I had to be there. Evan’s face still lights up when he sees me around during these school activities. After I took this photo I blew him a kiss and he unabashedly blew one right back at me.

His birthday isn’t over yet, he still has this many gifts left to open:And this many Legos for mommy to assemble.

Four has been a great age but I have a feeling five is even going to be better, I look forward to the coming days ahead. As I would always tell Evan at the end of the day, “I love every minute I get to spend time with you.” What joy this little man has been to my life, what blessing, what privilege.

Congrats to Evan! What a haul of loot! We too are gearing up for a birthday tomorrow but since my wife is only home for the weekend, we are going with a small one. We are getting L.A. a bike with a set of training wheels and a couple smaller gifts.

I’m planning on enjoying the summer with a five year old and like you, I suspect it will be a lot of fun. I am really going to be sad when she goes to kindergarten this fall. I’m not sure I’m ready yet.

Ed, how did little Abbey’s party go? I bet little Abbey got quite a loot of her own too. We got Evan a scooter. He hasn’t asked us a for a bike yet. I have mixed feelings oon Evan’s going to kindergarten but I am leaning more towards excited although I know I am going to miss him a LOT.

    Thanks Loraine and Kittymama!
